The 10 Most Expensive Neighborhoods in DFW
The cities of Dallas and Fort Worth have some very expensive neighborhoods, but what about the rest of the metroplex? Stepping outside of the two major cities there are surrounding suburbs that can be just as expensive as living in the big city. DFW as a whole is actually reasonably priced compared to other major cities around the country, but there are a few neighborhoods that stand out. This list covers the most expensive neighborhoods in all of DFW, and some of them require very deep pockets.

Highland Park (Dallas): $895k - $19.5 million
If you want expensive real estate in DFW, you’ve got to check out Highland Park. One of the oldest and most prestigious neighborhoods on the list, Highland Park is well known for being the “expensive” part of Dallas. Part of the Park Cities neighborhood, Highland Park, is actually its own independent town within the city of Dallas. It has one of the most exclusive country clubs in Texas, Dallas Country Club and the oldest shopping center of its kind in America, Highland Park Village. With stores like Chanel, Hermes, and Cartier you know it’s gonna be fancy.
University Park (Dallas): $649k - $16.5 million
The other neighborhood of Park Cities, located directly north of Highland Park, is University Park. Also its own city, University Park is known for its highly rated school district Highland Park ISD, one of the best school districts in the state and home to the well respected Dallas university, SMU. Homes in this neighborhood are similar in style to those of Highland Park, just slightly less expensive, but barely.
Stonebriar Creek (Frisco): $1.5 - $3.8 million
The city of Frisco is a far north Dallas suburb that has seen a lot of development in recent years. One of the most coveted neighborhoods in Frisco is the community of Stonebriar Creek. A unique gated neighborhood that has a required 2 acre minimum lot size and allows for horses. Stonebriar Creek is a little bit of country in the big city.
Hills of Kingswood (Frisco): $590k - $6.9 million
Another Frisco neighborhood to make the list is The Hills of Kingswood, an exclusive gated community offering luxury homes in the heart of Frisco. Built next to a wooded greenbelt that borders Lake Lewisville, The Hills of Kingswood is one of the newer neighborhoods on the list that began development around 2009.
Chateau Du Lac (Flower Mound): $3.4 - $10.9 million
Located in Flower Mound on the north shore of Lake Grapevine, is Chateau du Lac a master planned community featuring luxury homes on 2 or more acre lots. With an impressive guard gated entrance, Château du Lac has private lake access, an on-site concierge, and a dedicated homeowners association.
Vaquero (Westlake): $1.7 - $4.9 million
The city of Westlake is small but the houses are big. Inside Westlake is the neighborhood of Vaquero which makes up the majority of the city. Vaquero, a guard gated neighborhood, contains some of the most expensive real estate in DFW and one of the most exclusive country clubs around. For decades this area was mostly non-developed ranch land but in recent years there has been a lot of new development. And it’s fancy. The strict building codes keep residential and retail looking upscale. Want to see the most lavish looking Starbucks and CVS ever? Go to Westlake.
Westwyck Hills (Southlake): $1.9 - $2.39 million
The city of Southlake in general is known for being expensive. It is a suburb of north Fort Worth located north west of DFW airport. With large gated estates on multiple acres you will find multimillion dollar homes throughout the city that stand alone. However, this list is about neighborhoods, not cities so narrowing down to one expensive neighborhood in Southlake was a challenge. The neighborhood of Westwyck Hills made the list, its median home value and price per square foot rival those of other expensive neighborhoods in the metroplex. It is a fairly newer neighborhood with homes built in the mid-2000s with a mix of traditional Texas styles.
Preston Hollow (Dallas): $305k - $14.5 million
Magnificent homes hidden behind trees and gates mixed with more modest ranch style homes on large lots make up the neighborhood of Preston Hollow. Many of the top private schools in the area are located in and around this neighborhood. Home to some of the wealthiest people in Dallas, Preston Hollow is one of the most expensive and in-demand neighborhoods in the metroplex.
Bluffview (Dallas): $465k - $8.9 million
Once a 215 acre dairy farm, Bluffview has long been one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Dallas. Conveniently located near Love Field Airport and only 5 miles from downtown, Bluffview has a mix of styles on spacious lots surrounded by tree-lined streets. Built upon a bluff, where it gets its name, surrounding Bachman Creek offering some scenic views and unique architecture, Bluffview is unlike any other neighborhood in North Dallas.
Westover Hills (Fort Worth): $1 - $6.9 million
The neighborhood of Westover Hills, which is actually it’s own town, is located inside the city of Fort Worth. It is an idyllic neighborhood set among hills and canopying trees with an eclectic mix of architectural styles from colonial revival to mid-century modern. First developed in the 1930s by prominent Fort Worth residents, Westover Hills continues to be one of the most coveted and expensive neighborhoods today.
